SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Knife Crime

Say NO to knives!

In this workshop the students will explore the risks and dangers of becoming involved with gangs and using or possessing knives.

The workshop will kick off with a frank discussion on how we can all relate to the stories we hear in the news and how people can become involved with knife crime. Through drama exercises the students will explore how knife crime effects the whole community, not just those directly involved.

The students will also explore the dangers surrounding joint enterprise – raising awareness of the implications of being with someone who is carrying out violence, carrying a knife or in possession of drugs. Those who carry knives only for ‘protection’ are usually the ones who end up killing someone. Students will look at the human body, highlighting the major arteries and busting the myth that there are "safe places" to attack.

Finally the students will look at the dangers of grooming how promises of expensive items and glamorous lifestyles are far from true.

Practice techniques to avoid being groomed or lured by gangs.
